New Art!
Last dog watch, 8 bells (8:18 pm)

I just bought an original painting from Rikki Simons (the voice of GIR from Invader Zim). Here it is.

Lorien let me get it as an early birthday present to myself.

What’s For Breakfast?
Forenoon watch, 6 bells (11:14 am)

The ultimate breakfast item:

Voodoo Doughnuts' Maple Bacon Bar

Incidentally, this is also why I have scurvy :)

Seriously, though, my brother and sister drove up from Portland last night and they brought me some Voodoo Doughnut goodness. Apparently Voodoo's NyQuil and Aspirin doughnuts are "on hold" due to some stupid health code somewhere…

Fantastic Contraption
Forenoon watch, 2 bells (9:16 am)

John, a cow-orker of mine, sent me a link to Fantastic Contraption, a physics-based flash game. It looks interesting, but I'm far too busy at work to play with it.

Calling All Norwegians
Forenoon watch, 7 bells (11:46 am)

On their Tele-mega-phone! Call the number and broadcast your voice (or something else) all over the mountains.

PS If you're looking to RickRoll them, it's already been done, so you can't be the first to RickRoll an entire country. Sorry.

Trucker Hero
Afternoon watch, 8 bells (4:10 pm)

Last night (a Sunday) I had the misfortune of taking I-90 home at 9:30pm. Right when a road crew was working on the asphalt. For some unholy reason, they were out working during what was probably the busiest part of the day on Sunday—right when everybody's heading home.

Anyway, right at the on-ramp there was a big sign that said Left Land Closed, so I stayed in the right lane, directly behind a semi-trailer truck. The going was slow, and got slower as more and more people passed us using the left lane to sneak a bit ahead. This pissed me off something fierce.

About four cars back from me was another big semi. The driver finally got as fed up as I was and moved into the middle of the freeway, bless his 18-wheeled little heart, and blocked the lane from further jackholes slowing the rest of us down when they try to merge back into already slow traffic.

I rolled down my window and put a big thumbs up out for him. I hope he saw it and didn't think I was flipping him off.

Bender’s Big Score
Forenoon watch, 7 bells (11:57 am)

Last night I watched Bender's Big Score, and it was awesome. I had to physically restrain myself from buying it right when it came out last month because it was Christmas and someone might have bought it for me.

Well, someone didn't. So I finally went and picked it up. It was chock full of everyone's favorite robot, Bender, and his lovable antics. They brought back everybody from the series it seemed.

I can't recommend it highly enough. If you liked Futurama, you must buy it right now.

New Soda Machine
First dog watch, 2 bells (5:21 pm)

A few months ago, the creepy vendor that supplied a soda machine for our breakroom pulled his stuff out and said he was leaving, that we didn't buy enough for him to stay. We have been without a convenient soda source for many months.

But all that changed today. The company bought a refrigerator and will not stock it for us. I was jealous of MattP and his job where they did this, but now I can suckle at the teat of the soda-providing corporate machine too. After 11 years, this job still keeps getting better and better.
