I'm not one for talking politics, but today's FCC decision is an important one. For once, a government entity has done something in favor of people and not big business.
Anyone that tells you otherwise is, literally, trying to sell you something (or in their pockets).
Wow, I heard the Microsoft Kin's been axed already. I just started seeing commercials for it on Hulu the other day. It's only been available for two months I think.
I guess if you have a gajillion dollars you can make stuff and never sell it as often as you want. Still, it seems like a waste to me…
From Spokane News KXLY:
The Coeur d'Alene Police Department reports that a woman showed up at the Fast Lane Quik Lube, located at 484 West Bosanko Avenue, for an oil change. Mechanics at the business later identified that woman as Cyndi Steele, Edgar Steele's wife. As mechanics were working to remove the oil plug they noticed a suspicious device underneath her vehicle, a Mitsubishi Endeavor.
I'd think it was suspicious if I found a Mitsubishi Endeavor underneath my vehicle, too!
Sounds like Stephen Hawking isn't doing too well. Hope he pulls through.
Terry Pratchett has been knighted. Woohoo! There's nothing like seeing one of your favorite authors get a nice reward.
The cutthroat moneygrubbers at ABC canceled Pushing Daisies. How about this: let's drop all new ideas and put more Dancing with the Stars and other banal reality shows on. We're too stupid for anything else.
Premiering on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim this Sunday at "11ish", according to They Might Be Giants. Warning: gratuitous regurgitation of stomach contents of bird swiftly follows:

Joel Hodgson of Cinematic Titanic (and MST3K) fame just posted news about a redo of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (see the IMDB entry here). This is the first "re-riff" of a movie since the local-access only Season 0 of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Promising totally new jokes and an in-time-for-the-holidays release (Nov 20 2008), this one is gonna be great!
Apparently there is a camelnapper running around Athol, just a few minutes north of where I work. My wife called me this morning laughing after she heard about it on the radio. I haven't been able to find any news stories about it (typical slow North Idaho news sites), but the day is young. I'll post more information if I can find it.
Looks like they may have found DB Cooper's parachute. I wonder how this one will play out.
Apparently there is a creepy gnome terrorizing a town in South America. Watch the video. You know you want to.
If you're anywhere near where I am (Pacific NW, USA) tonight, don't miss tonight's total lunar eclipse!
I'll try to get better pictures than last time, since I have a new camera!
Well it looks like the next generation, high definition format war is over. The loser? US. The better features of HD-DVD (like backward compatibility) have lost to stricter copy protection and higher production costs.
I guess it's a good thing I don't plan on buying any of this crap any time soon…
They are falling behind at the new Federal Courthouse site because of all the snow. Today, some dude was up shoveling some off the second floor. He didn't get much done:
Also nearby, the weight of the snow knocked down one of our nice trees:
Well it just keeps snowing and snowing here. I had another couple inches to scrape off this morning, unfortunately everything underneath the snow is solid ice, even on my daily-shoveled driveway. The roads, however, are clearing up quickly. That means either the temperature is coming up enough during the day, or that the county is salting the crap out of everything. Hopefully it's the former.
This area has, however, been declared a disaster area by the governor.
