We've been doing some baking at home, and needed to find a good cream cheese frosting recipe. We took a shot at this one, and it turned out great!
1 8 oz. package cream cheese
5 tbsp butter, room temperature
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar
Mix the first three ingredients together thoroughly, then slowly add in the powdered sugar. This makes a nice, not-too-sweet frosting with a great cream cheese taste. You can add more powdered sugar if you want it to be sweeter, but I like it just the way it is.
I haven't posted my own videos before, but I thought I'd give it a try. This first one took forever to upload. Remember, all this snow fell in just under 30 hours.
These other two are much shorter:
We're still waiting for the snowplow.
We have about 28" of snow on the ground since yesterday morning. It still hasn't stopped snowing, but it should ease up by 4pm. I have some videos, but they're not done uploading yet. I'll link them up as soon as they're available. I was going to try to shovel out some of the snow, but it's still coming down so there isn't much point to it. The roads are horrible, and police are urging everyone to just stay home and stay warm. I think we can handle that.
It's been snowing all day today. I'm a little worried about the drive home, I've heard a lot of bad news about the roads.
Well I just got out of Jury Duty today, and somehow I dodged the random bullet that gets you called up to the juror's box. There must have been 60-70 prospective jurors there, and they were slowly dismissed until there were only about 8 of us left in the pool. Somehow my name never got picked, despite the odds increasing by the minute.
I heard some crazy excuses today, though. From a Vietnam vet with a chronic open wound to a wife of an ex-police officer, from a young man whose father, he believed, had been wrongfully imprisoned (and was still in prison) to religious views that you can't sit and judge someone.
The funniest part was when one of the lawyers asked how many of the prospective jurors wanted to serve on this trial. Nobody raised their hands.
It's been a very cold weekend, and apparently it's not over yet. The entire coming week is going to be cold as well, the highest forecasted temperature right now for the entire week is 17°. I also start serving jury duty this week.
It's 10am and we're at today's high temperature of 23°F (-5°C). It's all downhill from here. Tomorrow's high is only 7° (-14°C). Monday will be even colder. Lows are -3°F (-20°C). Usually it only gets this cold in January.
We played Munchkin at lunch today instead of the usual Majiang game (we had that on Monday). It was really funny and we had a great time. I have to get that game now.
My cow-orker Jeff ordered a jar of Vegemite from an import store about six weeks ago in anticipation of our white elephant gift exchange. I pity the person that picks his gifts.
Last year he made a giant hammer out of concrete and rebar. It probably weighted 30 pounds bare minimum. It actually got stolen, which shocked me. He swears the Vegemite will be stolen too. I think he may be right, it's a pretty rare thing to see in Idaho. Still, I won't be wanting it myself…
Did I mention Jeff's really lucky? The Vegemite was on backorder. It just arrived this morning. Tomorrow is the gift exchange.
I upgraded my WordPress software today. I think I'll upgrade Jodie's blog tomorrow.
Sunday's forecasted high is 8°F, or -13°C. The low? 0°F or -18°C.
As the title says, I'm guessing this happened in England, where 0.79% of the population in 2001 claimed the Jedi Order as their religion.
PS I'm kidding. I know it didn't happen in England. It was funnier to say because of the whole Jedi religion thing.
I love Qt. I've been working on some applications for the past few weeks and I just had to say what a great API they've designed. If you need to create a GUI, or build a graphical program from the ground up, I can't recommend it enough.
