Well the vacation is truly over. I’m still at work. I had a problem with our VPN server, and at the end of the day had to reboot it. So I did. Almost three hours later, it finished booting (it went through a chkdsk and had to rebuild AD indices since it’s also our domain server). Anyway, as soon as it finished booting, the RAID alarm went off, signifying that the mirror was degraded. So I had to shut it down, enter the RAID BIOS, and rebuild the array. That was almost an hour ago. It’s now at 12%.
My worst fear is that when it finishes, Windows will once again want to run chkdsk and rebuild Active Directory indices and take another three hours to boot, at which point the RAID array will get screwed up, and I’ll have to rebuild it…
This morning’s flavor is mandarin orange and pineapple. Yummmm.
