Treasure Island

Afternoon watch, 6 bells (3:21 pm)

Ben asked about formatting/typesetting books, here's Treasure Island so you can see what I've done.

If you open the file, it's obvious that the pages are in a weird order. When printed duplex and folded properly into 4-page signatures, everything lines up properly, I promise.

I was even able to remove page numbers from blank pages in Word 2007. It was tricky, but I bent it to my will.

Here is the Dracula file as well.

Do you have to reorder the pages yourself? Do you have a program you use?

All I have to do is print the PDF out on a duplexing printer. I then fold and collate the pages four at a time, at which time the pages are all in order. I used Word (page setup, book fold, 16 pages per booklet) to get them "out of order" to create the PDF in the right order.

Sounds like quite a bit of work to reorder all the pages, but at least you get to set the font.
    It's neat to read about.

Actually the reordering isn't that bad. Word does the work for you if you can figure out how to get everything right. It still shows everything in the right order, it just prints out differently. Now that I have a "template" to work from, each successive setup is much easier.
