Yesterday I finished reading Nick of Time, by Ted Bell.
This was a great book, and I really enjoyed it. It was an adventure story with time traveling, secret Nazi submarines, evil pirates, and even Winston Churchill! If you liked Treasure Island you would almost certainly like this book.
You can read a longer review at the LibraryThing page for Nick of Time.
Richard Bartle posted today about families of fallen English soldiers being given medals for their (the soldiers’) service. I’m all for this, and think it’s a great idea. Instead of For Bravery, the medals read For Valour (read Dr. Bartle’s post for more information).
I think, though, to show that the government is more in touch with today’s hip culture, they should have read FOR GREAT JUSTICE!
PS If you read the comments, I misread Dr. Bartle’s post and somehow thought that the Victorian Cross was the medal he was talking about. Well, it is the medal that says For Valour, but it’s not the new one. Duh.
McGruff the crime dog has his own blog. He blogs about as often as, well, a dog can blog. Which is to say, about once int he last year:
