Nagios

First dog watch, 3 bells (5:38 pm)

Even though I never have figured out how to pronounce it (whether it's a hard-g or more of a 'j' sound), I do really like the Nagios project. I just don't like the crazy configuration sometimes. Today I hooked up NRPE, a remote-execution plugin for some servers and everything went fine until I had to build the NRPE for a 64-bit server. Getting it to run right with SSL was a pain, but I finally figured it out and am quite happy now.

All that so I get a warning when any disk partition drops below 20% free space. Seems like a lot of work, but I know it will pay off in the long run.

Happy Anniversary

Forenoon watch, 6 bells (11:02 am)

Today is my 3rd wedding anniversary. All of Mexico celebrates this fact. Lots of Americans drink Corona in honor of it, too. My wife and I appreciate the fact that so many celebrate with us.
