I recently noticed I was being hotlinked from some retards on MySpace. I now rewrite all requests with myspace in the HTTP_REFERER header to a special image, as you can see below:
When will people learn that my Internet skillz are madder than theirs?
Thanks to CoronaLucas for the newer, shiny image that is now in place:
You can see the results on this retarded myspace death metal band's website.
…than normal when you see a police car, you should change the way you drive.
I spent four hours of my work day in meetings today. It sucked.I would like to not repeat it. It's not like I haven't got anything better to do. I suppose they help in the long-term, but I have such a full plate of work that things just don't get done when I spend that much time not doing anything.
My dad came by today and took me to lunch, along with our company accountant (who does all our personal taxes).
IRS: Income Removal Service
Today I received a couple of 750 Gb hard drives for the office. Upon opening one of the drives, several surface-mount components proceeded to fall out of the bag. I examined the board on the off chance that they would have been "spares" that fell in the bag at the factory (yeah, it was real wishful thinking). Sure enough, the thing is toast. Fortunately, I have two, so I'm not set back too much.
Well despite yesterday's long (6 hour) and later-than-average (left after 4pm) drive home, I felt good enough to come in to work today. I was certainly worn out from all the driving, but it was nice to be home. Our fish didn't die even though we forgot to ask someone to feed them, but we were only gone for two days.
I didn't get to see my brother Sam, he was down with some horrible sickness. I think it was a kindness that he didn't come over and transmit it to us.
Yesterday we made our semi-annual pilgrimage to Powell's Bookstore here in Portland, OR. It's frustrating, sometimes, driving in a big city like Portland. There was a lot of traffic considering it was a non-work day, but it was also a beautifully warm (nearly hot) day, so a lot of people were out doing things.
We broke all previous records for money spent at a bookstore, too. In our defense, though, we did buy quite a few books for other people. I personally found two Alastair Reynolds books in hardback, and I'm very excited about adding them to my library. One of them is the very book I'm currently reading.
Today is going to be a beautiful day for Portland. We're just excited about having a Saturday that doesn't snow on us.
Today around 1pm we are going over to Powell's—my mom has to work from 1-5pm, so it's the perfect time. I have to give Sam a call and let him know, but he won't be awake right now…
Tomorrow we're heading off to Portland for the weekend. We're bringing Lorien's cousin Kyndal with us this time. She wants to join us on our semi-annual trip to Powells. Yay, books!
Apparently there is a camelnapper running around Athol, just a few minutes north of where I work. My wife called me this morning laughing after she heard about it on the radio. I haven't been able to find any news stories about it (typical slow North Idaho news sites), but the day is young. I'll post more information if I can find it.
Last night I got one of the best nights of sleep I've had in a very long time. Let me share a few highlights from my polysomnogram: Total sleep time was 5.5 hours. Non-REM sleep was 4.6 hours, REM sleep 0.9 hours (54 minutes). The patient was awake for 162 minutes after the onset of persistent sleep. There was no stage IV sleep. There were 442 respiratory arousals, 295 apneas, 292 were obstructive. 158 hypopneas. The minimum oxygen saturation was 62% (but above 90% for 94% of the study, and above 80% for 98% of the study).
The CPAP device I have is not very large, and is actually pretty quiet. As I suspected yesterday, my wife now has to get used to me not snoring, the sound of the CPAP didn't bother her at all. I was also prescribed a humidifier that the CPAP device plugs in to, which was nice.
I sleep like Darth Vader now.
Remember the sleep test I took last week? Well apparently I failed. I have severe sleep apnea. The four hours I got that night apparently were enough for them to diagnose me. I must now go and spend much hard-earned money on a CPAP device.
If you were a long-time reader here, and I mean long time, you might remember a post about Band Logos I wrote about four years ago. Well, here's another one:

I got an email from Johnny, who has a band called Skurvy, who ran across this blog because of the name similarity. Their music is not really my thing (them: jazz, me: Irish trad), but if you like jazz you may like them. It won't hurt you to check them out anyway.
Today is Jackie Chan's birthday!
By the way, I can't wait until the 18th, to see The Forbidden Kingdom!
And once again, it's snowing. Every Saturday conspires against me so I can't go outside and do something fun without freezing, getting wet, or both. Bloody weather.
