A few days ago I started reading Chasm City by Alastair Reynolds. It has been difficult to put down. I’m down to about the last 70 or so pages and I don’t want it to end. I love having a book that’s this much of a page-turner, and Reynolds does an excellent job. My first exposure to his work was Revelation Space, I picked it up based on reviews on LibraryThing and it’s recommendation engine. Eventually I mooched most of the books in the series. The copy of Chasm City I have ended up with is actually my third—the first was a paperback (acquired from BookMooch), the second was a hardback purchased in a library sale in Portland, but it was in bad condition. The third copy I found while in Houston last December, and it’s a hardback in excellent condition.
Chasm City is a stand-alone book that doesn’t really have to be read along with the other Revelation Space books, so you can jump right in to it.
