New GPS

I got my new GPS, a Garmin Colorado 400t this week.

IT ROCKS.

You can now find me Geocaching and Wherigoing my heart out in a publicly-accessible spot nearby.

Stupid KVM
Posted in Tech

Today I got a new server to handle our growing need for a good, fast source-code server. It’s a quad-core Xeon with 4Gb of RAM and over a terabyte of RAID-5 drive space. Unfortunately for me, it has no PS/2 ports, so it can’t be easily hooked up to my existing KVM solution.

On top of that, when I plugged in the monitor to the KVM, the third daisy-chained switch (it supports up to 8 switches, or controlling 64 computers) crapped out and can no longer be switched to. Since the DLink KVMs I use draw power from the PS/2 ports they’re connected to, I have to unplug each and every machine from the switches. Since PS/2 isn’t really hot-swappable, that means I have to shut down all my servers and unplug all their keyboard and mouse cables, then plug everything back in and boot it all up again.

I have no idea when I’m going to get around to doing that…

Scratch = Pain
Posted in General

This morning I scratched my leg and half of the wart came off. Not thinking things through, I yanked it the rest of the way off and have been in pain all day long. I yelled when water went over it in the shower, it hurt that much.
