We reserved the picnic pavilion at the city park today, and paid $20 extra to have someone let us in the gate so we could unload close to the pavilion. When we got there, nobody was around, so we opened the gate ourselves (it was unlocked) and unloaded. About 15 minutes go by, and one of the park employees tells us we need to get our car out right now. We asked if we would be let back in later and they said no way. We told them we paid to be let in here and showed them our city park receipt, and the guy said if it wasn’t written on the receipt then we couldn’t drive in. So we called the office where we reserved it and verified that we did pay for it. The lady said she got two calls from the park people complaining about us and she told them that we did, in fact, pay to get in. They replied that we showed up early (which was a load of crap, we got there just after 11am, they didn’t show up until 15 minutes later!). Unfortunately, we didn’t pay the $20 to get out. I guess every time they’re not around to open the gate for you it costs you $20. And you’d better sign up for it in advance, because they can’t just call the guys and tell them to let someone in.
All in all, I now hate the Coeur d’Alene public parks people, they’re jackholes. They were rude and short with us when it was their mistake. All we wanted to do was get set up. Tomorrow when we get there (at 11am) I’ll make sure that we call right away if they’re not there to let us in, so they know we’re not early.
