I had to fight my system today for a while, after a (pretty large) update, my xorg.conf file lost it's rotate information, and would only do 1280x1024. It should do 1600x1200, but rotated left. Turns out I had to reinstall the x11-video-nvidia and nvidia-gfx-kmp-smp packages before things would start working again. Looks like things are back to normal, though.
