I picked myself up a new toy last night—an air compressor. I bought a 26 gallon Kobalt at Lowe’s. It came with six (pretty cheap but still infinitely better than nothing) air tools: a tire gauge, air hammer, paint sprayer, cutoff tool, impact wrench, and a finishing nailer/stapler. I had to lay it down to get it in the Cruiser, so I couldn’t fire it up when I got it home (you’re supposed to wait for the oil to run back down to where it should be in the sealed compressor).
I have this problem with underestimating how long it will take me to work on something at home. For my day job, I don’t seem to have this problem, I have a good handle on what I’ll need to do and how long it’ll take to get done. But not at home.
Last night I figured I had about two more hours of sanding and I’d be done with that part of my project—but I was way off. I sanded for four hours and still only finished about 2/3 of what I had to do. I hope that tonight I can finish sanding (revised estimate: two hours) and then clean up the dust (at least another hour), then paint the primer on. If I can finish all this before 10pm tonight I’ll be amazed.
