Our Christmas tree is coming down today. I don’t know where we’re going to put it (it’s a new, fake tree) yet with all the construction going on down stairs. We don’t have much going on today, we’ve been watching the top 100 teen stars on VH1. It’s one of those things that once you start watching, you just can’t seem to make yourself stop.
I took some pictures this morning of each of the different pieces I molded and added them to my build your 3d Settlers of Catan page.
I got an email this morning from one of my favorite authors, Fred Saberhagen. I sent him a general thank you email for being such a great author not really expecting anything back, but he replied the very next morning. I’d love to get a chance to meet him, but even if I don’t, you can order signed books from Fred’s Bookshop.
I found this on my doorknob when I got home Wednesday.
Um, yeah, I’ll switch right over and not get FOX anymore. Let me get on that right away. Oh yeah, NO! Especially with the new upcoming episodes of 24.
This space intentionally left blank.
My wireless router at home is going out, I don’t know how or why, but it only works now when I plug directly into the ethernet ports, none of the wireless broadcasting seems to be working anymore. I think I’m going to buy a new router tomorrow, before the TiVo runs out of data…
Here’s an Instructable of a Kat Litter Cake, but I have to say, my dad’s idea is still better.
Okay everyone that waited so patiently, here is the unveiling of The Secret Project: Make Your Own 3D Settlers of Catan. I spent a lot of time on this project, and made sure to take pictures along the way. I wrote everything up over the holiday break and hope it’s clear and understandable. This was a fun and not-terribly-difficult project, but be warned: if you take on a similar project it will suck up your free time like nothing else!
I actually started the write-up last Friday evening and made it public because I figured nobody would notice one more page on the sidebar…
Well here we are, after (barely) surviving the holidays, back at the daily grind. I ended up taking an extra day off yesterday just to wind down and help Lorien take care of some things that needed doing. We had a very nice Christmas, and I had a few surprises, all of the pleasant kind. Thanks go out to everyone, with warm Christmas wishes all around.
As we were packing up some Christmas presents this morning, Mr. Pookies decided he was going, too:

I had this crazy idea a while back and I just can’t get it out of my head. It kind of goes hand-in-hand with this. You need a 3-5 inch deep shadow box with a fake shotgun mounted in it, a box of shells, and a big wicked-looking knife. On the glass, etch the words In case of zombie attack, break glass.
Here’s a sneak peek of my secret project for those of you that just can’t stand it anymore. I took it with my cell phone, it’s sufficiently blurry and doesn’t really give anything away, and we’re close enough to Christmas that it doesn’t matter so much:

The IE problem rendering my stylesheet fix that I put in a while back seems to not work anymore. I don’t know why, but I’ll get on fixing it ASAP.
Update: Nevermind. It’s not worth it. The problem is with IE 6 and how it renders stylesheets. Their support of CSS has always been ban pigu anyway. If you upgrade to IE 7 or just use Firefox you’ll be fine.
This morning we had to restart an Exchange server (I hate MS Exchange, by the way). Anyway, there was an error on restart, it took us a while to track down:

Heh, I wish I stayed at home, because then I could finish my painting. I’ve got probably two or three hours left on my big project. I’ve taken many pictures and will have a big write-up for you loyal, curious visitors. Now if I could only finish my basement construction project, I could go back to work on my MUD project.
I don’t do this often, but I’m backdating this post to last night because I wanted to write, but had no time. I spent the whole day painting. Lorien stayed home and we both worked our fingers to the bone. She’s a trooper, she kept painting details until 4am. I gave up long before that, around 1am. We are very nearly done now, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
