I Don’t Like Spam

First dog watch, 1 bell (4:56 pm)

Well today has been a most excellent day at the office—it seems like every problem that came my way I just swatted down and went on to the next one.

This morning we received an evaluation unit of the Barracuda Spam Firewall, and man it’s cool. It acts like a pass-through gateway for all your email, you send it to the Barracuda, then it forwards your mail to your regular server for you. At least, it forwards the email you want to your mail server. Setup was a breeze, I was configured and up and running in 10 minutes. There was a problem getting updates, but my local dealer called Barracuda, gave me a direct number, and I had the problem solved in 5 minutes from the time I was called.

I’m excited about throwing the switch now. It’s been real difficult trying to follow spam trends, tweak SpamAssassin rules, etc to keep up with it. Now I (hopefully) won’t have to worry about it any more.

If you need a new LCD monitor, Dell has some great deals right now. My account reps are selling them at 25% off, I just ordered two 20″ LCDs for $366 and two 19″ LCDs for $231.
