Digital River sucks. I purchased licenses (online) for Symantec Corporate AntiVirus 10.1 and downloaded the ISO image from their site. Thankfully I opted to receive a hard copy (that took 4 weeks to show up because it was backordered). Anyway, I burned the ISO image to a CD and it was totally FUBAR. All the filenames were in capital letters, and all the spaces were converted to underscores. They didn’t create the ISO with the right extensions.
Unfortunately I didn’t find this out until after I attempted to upgrade our existing AntiVirus server. It went tango uniform. So I mounted the ISO image on my shiny new Linux box, copied all the content to a temporary directory, then created a new ISO image and burned that to CD—it works perfectly. I can never remember which extensions do what, but I typically use rock ridge and joliet (I think Joliet gives you the nice filenames). I always create ISOs with both of those and things have always worked well for me. I can only assume some newbie at Digital River tried to do the same thing and messed it all up. They may have fixed the download image by now, but I’m not going to buy new licenses and download them just to see…
