I made a new scratching post for Mr. Pookies today. His old one was unravelling. It was just two pieces of 2×4 screwed together and wrapped in sisal rope. The rope never stayed on either end very well, and I was constantly fixing it. While I was at Petco the other day I saw a scratching post that a cat could get underneath and really attack, and thought I’d make one like that. So I did, using scrap wood in the garage I cut up a 16″ wide shelf and a short piece of 2×4 and made a base, wrapped it in carpet, then screwed two 2×4s to it, one short and the other long. Then I screwed a 2×4 across the top of them (I cut them at 15 degrees so the bar slopes down between the two posts. Mr. Pookies played with it for 10 minutes before I could even get it finished. He loves it. I also whipped the ends of the sisal rope this time so they won’t unravel.
I also watched Once Upon A Time In China, with Jet Li. It’s been many years since I watched it. I can’t even remembery how many. Seeing it again makes me think of how, cinematography-wise, that era was way behind, but action-wise, they’re still way ahead of us. And Yuan Biao was great in that movie.
