I was just going through Google Analytics that I recently hooked up for this site, and it tells me that someone came here with a screen color depth of 520-bit. Most of the visitors were 32-bit. First of all, I don’t believe anyone makes a card that supports that insanely high color depth. Secondly, you couldn’t tell the difference if it did!
Well today I finally have a cool server room. It used to be the building’s AC would handle the heat our servers put out, but nowadays it’s just not enough. Plus, I found out the building’s system shuts down at night, so the heat builds up again until it comes back on in the morning. That can’t be good for electronic components. We just finished up getting a 24k BTU unit installed in our little server room, and I can’t believe how quiet it is! This unit has two parts, one inside and one outside, and I would swear they’re not on except for the fact that I feel the cool air coming down from it. Pretty cool stuff. It’s made specifically for server rooms, too. Highly recommended. I don’t know the specific model (although I could look it up), but it’s a Fujitsu and it says Halcyon Inverter on it.
Lorien found a nautical antique shop while she was in Texas—how cool is that? She bought a real ship’s wheel and it will arrive here next Monday. She said it’s three and a half feet across. She also found small anchors for wall ornaments and some real fishing nets to complete the nautical theme in the front room. Now I need to get a boatswain’s whistle like this one, and maybe one of these, too.
Well, in honor of the one that died in the tank, I’ve named the new plecostomus Posthumous. I think it’s a good name for the little sucker.
