Forenoon watch, 6 bells (11:17 am)
Last Friday, during my super network upgrade, I had to take a server down. I was worried about this server, because it’s been around the company almost as long as I have. Sure enough, when I moved things around and turned it back on, nothing happened. It was late on Friday, though, and I had BSA training all day Saturday, so I figured I’d work on it when I got back in to the office on Monday (today). Well, turns out all that was wrong was the power supply. I keep a few spares around for just such an occasion, and when I put the new PSU in everything works just fine.
I still believe, however, that that machine’s days are numbered. It’s primary drives are 9Gb SCSIs. 9 Gb!!!
