Rotary Cell Phone
First dog watch, 2 bells (5:00 pm)

I’m not quite sure why you would want to do this, aside from the obvious “because I can” reason, of course, but here’s a link to a guy that merged his cell phone with an old rotary phone. And it works, too. I love the pic of it on the dashboard—funny.

My incredible in-laws got me a Razr H3 bluetooth headset for my new phone—I didn’t even tell them about it! I’m amazed, and I absolutely love it!

Game Night

First dog watch, 1 bell (4:59 pm)

Tonight we’re having some friends over for games, my wife set it up early last week with a cow orker of mine, AM and her husband, S. We’re having some real yummy dinner (Italian), and Jodie’s Triple Chocolate Mess dessert. I should post the recipe when I get my hands on it.

More Paper Models
Posted in Hobbies
Forenoon watch, 3 bells (9:59 am)

Similar to my previous posts about papercraft models, here are some Paper Models from NASA, including a Geosynchronous Imaging Fourier Transform Spectrometer! Man, I’ve always wanted one of those!

One important note, quoted from the Cassini-Huygens Probe advanced model:

AN AFTERHOURS PROJECT
No taxpayer dollars were harmed in the production of this model.

Vampires
Posted in Dreams
Forenoon watch, 5 bells (10:50 am)

I had this weird dream last night, about a vampire that lived in a public toilet, in a park. For some reason, a toilet sitting out by itself in the park wasn’t weird, though.

Olympic Salute
Forenoon watch, 4 bells (10:14 am)

Snowboard, bindings, and boots: $850+
Trip to Torino Olympics: $10k+
Forever being remembered as the snowboarder that pulled a stunt while in the lead and wiping out, thus losing the gold and telling the media “It’s just a race” (yeah, tell that to your sponsors): Priceless

Retard.

First dog watch, 4 bells (6:02 pm)

Another Cow Orker is leaving the office today, and although he probably doesn’t even know I run a blog, I want to wish Brian G. the best on his new journey. We’ve been together in this company for over 9 years, and I’ll miss you.

Cold Weather
Forenoon watch, 7 bells (11:36 am)

We just had a real cold front move in—it’s about 10 degrees outside right now. And the wind is blowing. It’s supposed to be colder tomorrow. I had a hard time starting my car this morning, it was almost frozen solid. We had weather like this last December, and I thought we were through it, but I guess not.

Romantic Date, and Zoning Out
Posted in General
Forenoon watch, 3 bells (9:44 am)

I think I’m out of the race for Most Romantic Valentine’s Date—I took my wife to the Post Falls Planning and Zoning Commission Hearing. A lot near my house, bordering Mullan Avenue, is being recommended to the city council to be changed to Community Commercial Services, which I’m not all that happy about. In the long run, I’d rather have some nice doctor’s office there than a maximized-for-space apartment complex (the lot is currently zoned R2, which would allow for high-density apartments), but we just have no control over what goes there in the end. The current applicant could back out and a gas station could move in. If I had things my way, I’d rezone it to R1 and have someone build another development like the street I currently live on.

In the end, with at least an overpass on the way for Greensferry, and possibly a full exchange, it does make sense to put that lot up for commercial development. I just wish we had some control over exactly what commercial building goes on it.

Might as Well Get Started
First watch, 6 bells (11:23 pm)

…on collecting the Fullmetal Alchemist series. The collector’s tin is a nice touch, too. I’ve gotten seriously hooked on this show—it’s got a great storyline.

Bulletin Boards
First dog watch, 4 bells (6:07 pm)

Administrating an online bulletin board is like babysitting a horde of destructive children. It never ceases to amaze me how much people will complain about the silliest things: my smily icons don’t work (eg you see the text representation and not the nice replacement image). So-and-so gets a custom title and I don’t, that’s not fair, etc etc ad nauseum. I’d delete all the titles, but then those that had titles will start complaining… It never ends. Don’t run a bulletin board if you don’t have to.
