Well we got our 20 ft3 upright freezer delivered yesterday. It’s sweet! It has a digital readout of the inside temperature, and also has a quick freeze mode to kick the compressor into overdrive to help freeze a lot of stuff at once. It also requires a 9 volt battery aside from being plugged in, which I think is a little weird. It’s a Kenmore Elite from Sears (my wife got it at the 20% off appliance sale the day after Thanksgiving).
Those of you that are frequent readers may remember my earlier post about my bench almost being done. I finished it last Saturday, and it looks excellent! Unfortunately, I still haven’t taken a picture of it like I have been meaning to. I’ll have to get around to that soon…
I finally got instant messaging set up for my new phone service! You will see that the Message Jacob! link is back up on the navigation bar now.
Is a Root Beer, as evidenced by these humorous commercials.
Props to Lorien’s best friend Amanda, who sent these to me!
What guy couldn’t use a few more power tools? Here’s another thing I’d like to have: a Double-bevel sliding compound miter saw with laser guide.
Update! Thanks to my wonderful in-laws, I now have one of these! Let the chopping begin!
Well we survived the Thanksgiving holiday. We had the traditional feast at my uncle Steve and aunt Veronica’s house, then took Lorien’s parents to see the new Harry Potter movie. Yesterday we had Thanksgiving dinner with them (they had their Thursday feast with some other family).
Yesterday in church we heard a talk about the origins of Thanksgiving, and how there’s only really one surviving account, a letter some guy wrote to some other guy in England. He said some Indian chief brought 90 Indians and they feasted for 3 days. I made the comment that, to have a real traditional Thanksgiving next year, we’d have to go to the Indian Casino
I really want one of these dual channel USB flash drives.
I’ve been thinking about an easier way to publish pictures on this blog, and even wrote my own plugin a while back, but had too much trouble with it. Today I downloaded a new one and thought I’d try it out.This is a test of my picture poster program.

Make a papercraft Naruto.
Warning: You’ll have to fumble around if you can’t read Japanese, but thankfully I read Chinese, and it helps a little.
Here’s some Aqua Teen Hunger Force paper models.
There’s a great site about making papercraft models, including SpongeBob and his house, as well as Patrick. They also have several other projects, including the Tick, Samurai Jack and Aku, and a very cool knight chess piece, all in PDF format to print and assemble.
PS There’s an even better Samurai Jack here—this one includes the Scotsman!.
I have a problem with a Chinese software piracy page called verycd.com. They provide links to help people download ISO images of our software. They are a very popular website, and they hotlink several of our images. We serve our data over a T-1 connection currently, and have Apache set to cap out with 150 server threads. I doubled that amount last time this happened and we still almost instantaneously ran out of threads to serve files. So I shut them down.
Normally I really like Chinese people, I lived there for three years and am fluent in Mandarin Chinese. But I hate these people. They’re sleaze, and shouldn’t be allowed access to the Internet at all since the only reason they use it is for evil.
So here’s how you can deny verycd.com access to steal your images (and any of their readers access to your site through them) in Apache:
<Directory />
Order Allow,Deny
Allow from all
SetEnvIf Referer ".*verycd.*" user_deny
Deny from env=user_deny
Deny from mthmarketing.com
</Directory>
That part about mthmarketing.com comes from previous experience with blog comment spam. Feel free to block those jackasses too.
The Warning Label Generator is awesome—I love the Godzilla image!
Reason #24:
Because you’ll end up looking like this guy—driving a geo metro and doing stupid things with your laptop.
Last night Lorien and I went to the midnight show of the new Harry Potter movie. It was pretty good, and much longer than the others, it was 2:45 long!
I really want one of these T-Shirts in XXL!
