Akamai
Forenoon watch, 4 bells (10:22 am)

Akamai definitely isn't cool, the wafflemonkeys have been dinking with stuff and there have been several sites that are hard to reach. I'm even having trouble deleting my spam from my Yahoo account. Several big sites that most people visit daily are in yo-yo mode. See this article at Slashdot.org.

Yahoo Mail
Forenoon watch, 4 bells (10:15 am)

Yahoo.com just changed their entire web-based mail system. I've used my yahoo account since around 1997, and thought it was cool that I was grandfathered in with 6 megs of storage. Looks like they did it to combat Google's GMail and its 1 Gb storage (heh, if it is ever made public!). I must admit to liking the new design, lets see if their "Remember Me" checkbox works—it hasn't worked for me, from Windows or Linux for a long time.

L is Back Home

Forenoon watch, 4 bells (10:02 am)

I talked to L yesterday (she was in Seattle with A picking up A's stuff for her stay over the summer), and they were coming back yesterday, as opposed to today. Of course, I'm happy about that, she was only gone one day but I did miss her. I hung out at the Inn waiting for her, watched a movie with her dad and uncle and grandfather. Around 12:30am I was too tired to wait, so I called her and left a message that I was taking off. Turns out she and A were still about an hour away, so it was good that I didn't wait any longer for them.

New Board Game
Forenoon watch, 4 bells (10:00 am)

Well, not new, but new to me. L's friend A told us about Settlers of Catan, and how it was such a great game. I picked up a copy of it yesterday at the game store in the Spokane Valley Mall—the guy there said it was their most popular game, and nearly impossible to keep on the shelf. I also picked up the Seafarers expansion, because I dig boats. I have yet to play it, but it looks pretty cool, and if A says it's a lot of fun, then I trust it will be. We'll probably play tonight.
