Search Phrases For Which I Am Famous
First dog watch, 1 bell (4:31 pm)

It's funny some of the things that have brought people to my site. To share some of this humor, I'll list some of the phrases that have sent people to this site:

Feline rage
Bone thieves
Understanding Italians (Google for this, I'm #3!)
Buy a real penguin
Root beer bottled
Feet hurt when ice skating
Dot net projects (Whiskey tango foxtrot, over)
Cutthroat racquetball
syncing disks sunk
Wheat glue
Tequisha (a coworker of mine)
Christmas troll
522 Mailbox Full (sorry, I can't help you solve this problem, tell them to read their mail!)
Hoy pictures Scotland
Is Jacob stupid? (I hope they weren't talking about me)

Mud library
Desktop Christmas lights
XML blanket Sweden (WTF again..)
Webmonster blog (from those darn Italians again—but we fixed them, didn't we?)
Grammar conscious
The cool things about Jacob (I hope they were talking about me)

Interesting list, huh? These were all taken from my webserver logs, from actual people that came here. Truth is stranger than fiction. Of course, listing these search phrases will only make it look like I host information about these topics, which I don't really. So HA! Made you look!

Hello to my Visitors!
Posted in General
Afternoon watch, 7 bells (3:52 pm)

Just a hello to some people that I know visit my page from time to time. I don't always talk to you, but I know you visit, I go through my webserver logs every now and then to see what's going on.

I even got some hits from Taiwan Sunday (Monday Taiwan time). I haven't talked to anyone from over there for several months. Just wanted to say Hi!

And sorry ladies, I'm currently spoken for 😉

Old CD’s
Posted in General
Afternoon watch, 5 bells (2:56 pm)

Well, today I actually found a chance to use an old Windows NT 3.51 CD. I am trying to install Windows XP on this system for the new girl starting tomorrow, but the XP installer hangs before it gets very far. So I swapped hardware—hard drives, memory, cd-rom, and pulled out all unnecessary add-on cards, all to no avail. Finally I decided to put Windows 2000 Pro on it, then upgrade it to XP (cue collective *gasp* here). Well, our 2000 disk is an upgrade version, so I had to prove I owned a copy of an earlier version of Windows, so I turned to my shelf, and what popped out but that old Windows NT 3.51 disk. So after many years of diligent dust-gathering, it actually performed some service to me today. See why I have such a hard time throwing things out??

New Cow Orker

Forenoon watch, 7 bells (11:46 am)

Well apparently they waited until the last possible minute to tell me this, but tomorrow we have a new employee starting at the reception desk. So I have to put a computer together for her. An earlier notice would have been nice, although I don't think it would have helped much, what with the server going down last Monday. But still, I would have liked to know it was coming up and have the chance to be better prepared.

Computer Woes

Forenoon watch, 7 bells (11:42 am)

Well, yesterday wasn't that great of a day, but I did finish fixing that server that went down, and all our backups were perfectly intact, so it was just the matter of time to get everything rebuilt. I finished around 2pm yesterday. It was a lot of work, but now it's RAID1 protected, so if one of the hard drives fail again, we should be better off.
