But I know I'm at least six out of a thousand (from the IQ post comment section):

How did we determine that your thinking style is that of an Intuitive Investigator? When we examined your test results further, we analyzed how you scored on 8 dimensions of intelligence: spatial, organizational, abstract reasoning, logical, mechanical, verbal, visual and numerical. The 3 dimensions you scored highest on combine to make you an Intuitive Investigator. Only 6 out of 1,000 people have this rare combination of abilities.

The Guilt Trip
Posted in General
Forenoon watch, 6 bells (11:18 am)

L and I were guilt-tripped into attending a class last night, taught by one of the neatest people I know (TS). He wanted to be sure we'd show up. I walked out of the class with some great information, and answers to things I've wondered about for years. It was great.

Afterwards, L kept going with the third book. We got about one and a half chapters in and her dad fell asleep in his chair, and I was on my way, my eyes were drooping, and although I love to listen to her read, I just had to call it a night. So I actually made it home before 12am last night.

One more thing, yesterday afternoon I took a long lunch and went and saw Peter Pan with L and her father. It was a funny movie. I think my favorite part was when the pirates clapped the teddy bear in irons. Funny stuff.

Random IQ Scoring

Forenoon watch, 4 bells (10:00 am)

JA had a great comment under the IQ test entry from the other day—fill it out randomly. I just went back and did a completely random selection of all answers on the test, and scored a 97 and was told:

Your Intellectual Type is Inventive Inquisitor. You have the unusual distinction of being equally good at math and verbal skills. This means you are a creative thinker and are uniquely good at teaching others through experiences. You are also a great improviser and very good at handling change.

Take the test and post your random results (or honest results, if you want) as comments below to share with all 🙂

IQ Tests
Posted in General
Afternoon watch, 6 bells (3:25 pm)

I've taken a couple of IQ tests online, and though they say they're scientifically accurate, sometimes I wonder. I do find that I always score between 128 and 140, though. A difference of 12 points between 4 different tests isn't too bad. I guess if they're all inaccurate, at least they're inaccurate together.

Congratulations, Jacob!
Your IQ score is 135

This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Emode's Classic IQ test. Your IQ score is scientifically accurate; to read more about the science behind our IQ test, click here.

During the test, you answered four different types of questions — mathematical, visual-spatial, linguistic and logical. We were able to analyze how you did on each set of those questions, which reveals the way your brain uniquely works.

We also compared your answers with others who have taken the test, and according to the sorts of questions you got correct, we can tell your Intellectual Type is a Facts Curator.

This means you are highly intelligent and have picked up an impressive and unique collection of facts and figures over the years. You've got a remarkable vocabulary and exceptional math skills — which puts you in the same class as brainiacs like Bill Gates. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.

That bit about the Facts Curator is really interesting, I do have lots of weird little facts in my head, including PI to a lot of digits (3.14159265358979323).

W4 Adjustment

Afternoon watch, 1 bell (12:45 pm)

Today I talked to our company accountant and adjusted my W4 claim to 4 (instead of 1) to try to fix my excessive tax refund problem. Not that getting a chunk of money is bad, but giving the government a free loan is.

Saturday Night

Last dog watch, 8 bells (8:03 pm)

On Saturday, I was mostly at home doing some household chores, nothing too exciting. I had to do some work in the server room at the office, which I'd been putting off for several weeks, and finally bit the bullet and got it done. I picked up a new copy of the 4th Harry Potter book (L's was stolen by some nasty person—they left the cover on the bookshelf, so it looked like it was around. I wanted to do something nice for her since she's been so busy with work.

After I picked up the book, I had dinner with JT & M and then stopped by L's place to give her the book. We ended up watching a little TV, then going to the store to pick up a few things, then L made some dessert and started reading the 3rd book to me. That was the best thing I did all weekend.

Well I finally got my form 1098 from my mortgage company, it was the last thing I needed to get my taxes filed. I picked up TurboTax today and just finished them up, I think this is a new record for me. I'm excited, because I'm getting a load of money back this year.

Book Two

Forenoon watch, 8 bells (12:00 pm)

Well last night L finished reading the second Harry Potter book to me. She's a wonderful narrator. Her dad joined us for the last couple chapters, it was really getting exciting at the end. We finished up around 12:30, so I got to work a bit late, though I had to shovel snow from my driveway this morning, and that made me late more than sleeping in. I imagine we'll watch the next movie tonight, or start on the third book. I should really go to class with JT, but I have so much fun at L's...

Game night

Last night was racquetball night again. And once again, JP said he'd join us and backed out. I ended up playing MP as usual, but he beat me 2/3 games this time. He had some great shots.

Tired

Afternoon watch, 6 bells (3:12 pm)

I just can't keep my eyes open at my desk today. For lunch, CV (our accountant) ordered pizza, I suppose that didn't help. I've been working on some projects around the office, but keep getting interrupted by different things. Yesterday, it was the death of Gandalf the Gray and TW's computer going kooky. Today our T1 data line went down for the first time since I can ever remember. By the time I'd power-cycled the router, restarted my network and routing services on my Linux desktop and got the phone company on the line, it came back up on its own. I wish they wouldn't do daytime maintenance, or at the very least warn me when they are going to do it so I don't get the "Did you know the Internet is down?" questions.
