A busy Sunday

Last dog watch, 8 bells (8:04 pm)

I got a lot done today, and even got a date for the Christmas party this Friday(!). After Church, Dad, Jared and I worked in the garage to build a doll house for his little girl, Jayme. I had the garage door open and by about 6:30pm it was so cold I couldn't move my fingers much (that was after about 1 1/2 hours of being out there). We got a lot done, mostly finished building it, and the parts that are left are basically finishing, sanding, and painting. They just left, and I came back inside and am attempting to warm myself up enough to type this blog entry out.

I also worked on my latest book, and got the spine rounded and smoothed. I'm very excited at how well it is going, it'd definitely shaping up to be my best-ever book. The book press I built the other day has been immensely helpful. The wheat glue I made the other day is quite good, despite being a bit grainy (I think the flour is coarse-ground and not very fine). I'll have to look for some better stuff, but it seems to stick very well. I put a small piece of leather on a bookboard, pasting it with the wheat glue, and it is stuck on very good. I've been meaning to get some pictures, and borrowed the digital camera from work for this purpose, but just haven't gotten around to taking any pics yet. I'll have to do that after I warm up a bit more...

Last dog watch, 3 bells (7:51 pm)

Dad showed up yesterday morning around 11am or so and we worked out in my garage for a little while. He expressed dismay at the amount of junk cluttering up my garage that belongs to him 🙂

After organizing and cleaning, I showered and drove over to JT &M's to help them out with a computer issue. JT was hanging Christmas lights on his house, and SN was there helping him out. I found out that last Friday JT got his shop heater in, and will now be holding class there. I've been quite lax about my gungfu practice lately, and dread going back, but I need to. So I'm going to talk to MP at work and coerce him to come along with me. Actually, I don't think there will be much coercion going on, since he already expressed interest in training again as well (he used to train with DC, and DC teaches some Choy Lay Fut with his other stuff, just not like JT does).
