Bad sectors on database servers are definitely not cool.
I HATE COMPUTERS today.
I'm trying to get someone to stay today and play racquetball with me, everyone is leaving early (or on time and not staying). MP stayed up too late last night (driving home from Seattle) so he won't lift or play today. Perhaps I can con him into at least doing bench presses before he takes off...
I'm helping my sister Jodie set up her website, AlizarinCrimson.com (her favorite color).
Jodie and I have lots in common and get along really well. She knows all kinds of cool stuff, and taught me how to make books, and even got me interested in photography.
Mom's getting married on Dec 27. Gonna have to make plans to be there for the wedding.
Going out tonight to see the new Quentin Tarantino movie. w00t.
Well, played 3 games of doubles today with MP, AM, and JP. My team won 2/3 games. We then played 2 games of cutthroat (JP had to leave), and I won one of them. I'd say I'm doing all right.
I almost forgot, today is Double Ten day, a holiday in Taiwan
The week after this Monday is Mom's birthday.... I think I'll drive down there so I don't forget to talk to her
Yesterday I won my 9th straight game against MP...although the last one was real close. We had some excellent volleys and a lot of fun.
Another extract from the Infinite Monkey Protocol Suite
An Explanation from the specification:
There are four primary entities that communicate within an IMPS
network. Groups of monkeys are physically located in Zone Operations
Organizations (ZOOs). The ZOOs maintain the monkeys and their
equipment, obtain transcripts from the monkeys' typewriters, and
interact with other entities who evaluate the transcripts.A SIMIAN (Semi-Integrated, Monkey-Interfacing Anthropomorphic Node)
is a device that is physically attached to the monkey. It provides
the communications interface between a monkey and its ZOO. It is
effectively a translator for the monkey. It sends status reports and
resource requests to the ZOO using human language phrases, and
responds to ZOO requests on behalf of the monkey.
The Quote:
Assume a monkey BoBo with a SIMIAN interface named BoBoSIM, and a ZOO
named SanDiego. Once the BoBoSIM client has established a connection
to the SanDiego server, the following session might take place.SanDiego> HELO CHIMP version 1.0 4/1/2000
BoBoSIM> REPLACE PAPER

Man that's some funny stuff.
About 200 miles North of Boise some redneck's car backfired, caught his dog on fire, and the dog ran out into a field and started it on fire. Firefighters were called out to put out the spreading grassfire (not to mention the dog, who BTW was fine, only smelling of burnt dog....yummm).
Well Californians elected Arnold as the new governor. I suppose he can't do any worse than any career politician, and perhaps even a little better. I don't care much for politics. That probably explains why I think an action movie hero can do as well as any other politician. Hell, Reagan made it to president. Too bad Arnold can't run for president...
Menehunes are not cool.
A good quote from the IMPS specification:
The Version, Sequence Number, Protocol Number, and Reserved fields
are 32 bit unsigned integers. For IMPS version 1.0, the Version must
be 1. Reserved must be 0 and will always be 0 in future uses. It is
included because every other protocol specification includes a
"future use" reserved field which never, ever changes and is
therefore a waste of bandwidth and memory.
Bruce Campbell is COOL. Just check this review of his new movie "Bubba Ho-tep" out:
Bubba Ho-tep tells the 'true' story of what really did become of Elvis Presley. We find Elvis(Bruce Campbell) as an elderly resident in an East Texas rest home, who switched identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his ?death?, then missed his chance to switch back. Elvis teams up with Jack(Ossie Davis), a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually President John F. Kennedy, and the two valiant old codgers sally forth to battle an evil Egyptian entity who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds?
